Avast Antiviurs Auto-Renew Hassle Nothing But Trouble

Spring has finally sprung here in Kentucky! Now is the time to air out the house and find the time to do something that you have been pondering all winter long.

One of the things the tephno team has been pondering is why there are so many people getting buy with selling crappy service and crappy merchandise? Really makes us wonder why no one is asking for refunds or are the refunds just getting harder to obtain?

Let’s take our teams favorite anti virus program ( Avast ) as a sample. While you can download this program for free and it is absolutely wonderful there are advantages to buying the subscription.

Unfortunately there has been an addition to the program and service which we DO NOT like nor endorse. It seems that for what ever reason Avast has decided to do a “hidden” auto renew to the cost of the subscription and if you decide to cancel this it is almost impossible.

You have to go through so many loops and if you try to stop the auto renew via the website you are out of luck. Our team recently tried to help someone do this strictly online through the avast website and what a night mare this was!

We followed the directions exactly as stated and all though we were logged in to his account and could see every bit of his information even change his password when we tried to cancel the auto renewal of the program we were repeatedly asked to log in and told his password or username was wrong, which was not the case because he was already logged in.

We then tried to call via the 188 phone number on their website and again was taken around a mulberry bush and never could we speak with a live person.

So the solution we finally came up with for him was to cancel his credit card which will render the auto renew NULL and VOID when they try to get their money and request a new credit card and be sure that Avast was placed on his never pay list with the credit card company.

It is truly sad to see such a great program that is superior to others out there go down this road, it is uncalled for and quite frankly angering!

While we still say you can not beat the protection of both the free and paid versions of Avast we will tell you to be very VERY careful when you install it and be sure the un-tick the auto renew option. If not then you will find it almost impossible to stop the auto renew of the paid subscription.

Our score for Avast has changed and is now:

Quality +10

Cost -10 due to the auto renew hassle if you decide to cancel.
